Welcome aboard my a Web Site. My name is Larry Van Etten, and I have been fascinated with the TITANIC story since I was in grade school. When I was a kid years ago I had to do a book report in school. I never really did like reading, so I went to the school library and picked up a book titled "A Night To Remember". After reading the book I fell in love with great ships. Their great size, their beauty and their grace to sail the seas. From that time on I read every book I could find on the TITANIC. Like everyone else I wondered if the TITANIC would ever be found. When I heard the news that Dr. Robert Ballard had discovered the TITANIC resting two and a half miles under the sea my fascination with the TITANIC was reawakened. On Sunday April 11, 2000, I and my good friend, Larry Jordan from California went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago to visited the TITANIC the Exhibition. For me it was a dream come true, to visit this great ship the TITANIC. To touch even if only a small part of that massive ship. To gaze upon the artifacts that were recovered in the debris field, to lay eyes on the personal articles that were found are unbelievable. I recommend to everyone who has a fascination with the TITANIC to visit the Museum and see for yourself the wonders of the great ship. Unfortunately you are not allowed to take photographs of the TITANIC exhibit. On this Web Site I will bring you articles and photographs of the R.M.S.TITANIC. I did find photos of the artifacts from the TITANIC-ONLINE

Building the Great Ship

On May 31st, 1911 the Titanic was launched into the River Lagan, still without her four majestic funnels.after launching, the Titanic spent ten months being fitted out and furnished in Harland and Wolff's deep water basin.

Nearly 15,000 yard workers were employed to build the Olympic and the Titanic.
They were the largest moving objects that had ever been constructed at the time. To accommodate the giant liners, Harland and Wolff removed three existing slipways from its Queens Island, Belfast, yards and replace them with two huge new slips. Towering above them was a new 175 foot gantry.

Titanic had 29 boilers
